The first frame immediately sets the tone for the whole video, while making the ticking sound more relevant. All the clocks are blurred and rendered in higher frames per second except the center one which is rendered in lower and as an echo effects in its center to make it the hero. The animation, as well a he sound ticks faster than one tick per second to create a feeling of urgency and in being so monotonous, create a mundane or routine theme.
The eyes act exactly as if they were following the movement of the clocks but never focus on the passing-by elements. This is to symbolise that sometimes we are focused the the very fact of time’s existence instead of focusing on things that happening in our life and how we should react.
Here the circle draws the infinity symbol to further emphasise that concept of loops.
Then it abruptly transforms into an hourglass which is a symbol of infinite loops while keeping the indexes as part of the design to demonstrate the concept of time.
The next scene consists of some compasses that can’t find their north and constantly move in different directions to each other, that movement gives way that each of us is different and struggles to find their true direction. The way they are animated-in is like an eye, to connect to the human element. But also unlike the first scene, the center compass is not any different that’s the others. That is to minimise the individual as a concept.
After that, the main compass transforms into a spinning top which connects to the theme of being
in a loop because a top at first glance looks like it can spin forever.
While at the beginning of this scene the top is visible from the top side, but moving to the
next one, the perspective changes for the first time in the video to reveal the whole thing.
After the change of perspective, then spin falls down and the animation stops for the first
time, symbolising that sometimes, literally the change of perspective can break the routine.
